Following growing concerns about the increasing level of litter in the area surrounding the Hardwick Shopping precinct in the Southgate Ward of Bury St Edmunds, ward councillors Sarah Stamp and Patrick Chung have organised a community litter pick for Tuesday 7th February between 10am and 12pm, starting in the grounds outside the Community Centre and shops and moving outwards.
Children from Hardwick Primary School will also be in attendance, as will officers from St Edmundsbury Borough Council who will provide the necessary safety equipment, representatives from the Police, the Southgate Community Partnership and Southgate Church, and also a group of local residents who have contacted Cllrs Stamp and Chung with concerns about the litter. The group will also be joined by the Mayor of St Edmundsbury, Councillor Christopher Spicer, who is keen to promote community litter picks across the Borough.
Anyone is welcome to come along on the day and join in this fantastic example of the "Big Society" in action.
