Launching: Tuesday 13th March 2012 at 7.30pm
Despite having a thriving Bury St Edmunds Conservative Association, you may be aware that it has been some time since we have had an active Bury St Edmunds branch in the town. Several members, including local Councillors, are keen to start up a Bury St Edmunds town branch, and we are keen to hear from anyone who may be interested in joining. The aim of the new branch would be to offer an entertaining and informative forum, which would meet three or four times a year for an interesting visit or talk, with an emphasis on the social element of the evening.
We would like to invite you to an informal meeting of possible members at The Attic, upstairs at Benson Blakes Bar, St Johns Street, Bury St Edmunds on Tuesday 13th March 2012 at 7.30pm.
Deborah Cadman, the new Chief Executive of Suffolk County Council has agreed to talk at this inaugural meeting, and it will be an excellent opportunity to hear firsthand about her plans for Suffolk County Council, as well as finding out more about the new branch and meeting other members, and putting forward any suggestions you may have for the new branch. Geoff Rivers, the Chief Executive of St Edmundsbury Borough Council has also offered to join us for the evening to talk about the shared services agenda with Forest Heath District Council, and the resulting cost savings for us as residents of Bury St Edmunds.
Membership to the group will be covered by your existing subscription to the Association, and will be open to all existing Conservative party members who live in the Westgate, Northgate, Risbygate, Minden, Southgate, Abbeygate, Eastgate, St Olaves and Moreton Hall areas of Bury St Edmunds.
As a branch of the existing Association, it would need to form its own executive and would be expected to run independently. Therefore we will be looking for volunteers to stand on the committee, if you would like to find out more about what this entails please contact the office on 01284 488345 or email office
