Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket Conservatives have announced that Will Tanner has been selected as their candidate at the General Election due on 4th July.
Will Tanner comes from a Suffolk farming family and has strong links to Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket.
In 2018, he set up and ran his own non-profit business, Onward, growing it from nothing to a successful start-up employing 20 people.
He left that business in 2022 to become the Prime Minister’s Deputy Chief of Staff in 10 Downing Street, where he ran the policy unit and oversaw national security issues until his selection in Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket.
He is married to Lizzie, a Director at the British Museum, with a three-year-old son, Horatio.
Speaking about his selection, Will Tanner said:
“It is an honour to have been chosen to contest Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket at the General Election on the 4th of July.
“I love this area and I am ambitious for its future. With thriving businesses, beautiful countryside, and historic market towns and villages, Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket is the essence of England’s green and pleasant land and I will fight for it from day one.
“I will campaign tirelessly for the things that matter to local people, whether that’s the new hospital in Bury, reviving Stowmarket town centre, backing local businesses and farmers, and upgrading local infrastructure such as roads and local buses.”
